Being based in the UK, I look for local suppliers where ever possible.
 
One stop shopping saves on carriage charges, but reduces choice.
 
Mandolin builders do not have the same number of supply sites available to them as guitar builders, but some
sites cater for a range of instruments.
 
Low stock levels would appear to be a common problem.
 
I have bought a lot of materials on ebay, but you should be careful to check their origin and carriage charges.
 
Don't discount buying abroad, things can work out cheaper, but could take a long time to arrive.
